Is depression linked to my smoking?

Published by trixxie at 1:42 pm under Home Edit This

Actually it appears to be the other way around.  Research has shown that people who are depressed are more likely to begin smoking because they are more susceptible to peer pressure and in general do not care as much about the harmful side effects of smoking.  Depressed people often feel very little about anything and are looking for a stress reliever.  There perception is usually altered and unable to find healthy stress relievers so they mistakenly mistake a cigarette as a steady relaxer in their lives.  People who suffer from depression are more likely to become addicted to substances because they are searching for anything help them feel better and lack the mental power needed to quit smoking effectively.
