What types of tests are given to diagnosis depression?
Physicians, psychologists, and psychiatrists look at several categories when they are looking at what is causing your particular depression. They look at your family history and what is going on currently in your life to cause the symptoms to appear. They may ask if you use drug or alcohol. They ask if you have had any severe thoughts of self-harm such as suicide.
When your doctor diagnosis you with depression they have to put you through a mini psych exam that cover all aspects of the way your thought patterns work so they can figure out exactly what is causing all your problems. You may be put on medication and/or therapy with a psychologists, psychiatrists, or counselor.
